Sierra Foundation, a foundation of Turkish-Muslims in Northern Nevada, joins the nation in condemning the barbaric acts of terror in London committed by a group of cowards. We share the sorrow and anguish of the British people and offer our condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the attacks. As people of Islamic background, we stand by the British people and deplore those who commit acts of violence in complete disregard of human life and values of humanity as a whole. As Fethullah Gulen said years ago on September 11 attacks, "a terrorist cannot be a Muslim; a Muslim cannot be a terrorist."
The sanctity of life in Islam is a permanent principle of life that cannot be weakened or changed by a group of so-called Muslims who distort the universal message of Koran for their short-sighted ends. The Koran tells us that killing of a person is like murdering all mankind; those who kill innocent people are murderers by all means, regardless of their purposes.
Sierra Foundation, as an organization standing for interfaith dialogue and understanding, stresses the urgency of building bridges of understanding and tolerance among the members of all religions.
