Dinner :: 6th Annual Dialogue & Friendship Dinner

The 6th Annual Dialogue & Friendship Dinner hosted distinguished guests representing various religious and cultural establishments and community members interested in dialogue. In addition to the presentations by guest speakers, the round table discussions provided a unique opportunity to share our experiences and learn from each other.
The dinner was attended by more than 100 guests. Governor Jim Gibbons, Senator Harry Reid and Senator John Ensign have sent a Certificate of Recognition for Sierra Foundation. The night of tolerance began with a welcome session, Video Presentation about Sierra Foundation.
Speaker of the evening, The Reverend Canon Dr. Gwynne Guibord, The Officer of Ecumenical and Interreligious Concerns for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and the Theological Consultant for Interfaith Relations for the Episcopal Church USA , shared her thoughts with the invitees. Then, Sierra Foundation first Annual Public Service award given to Reno Police Deputy Chief Jim Johns on behalf of Chief Michael Poehlman.
The dinner was followed by Turkish Coffee Demonstration, where people learned history and importance of the Turkish Coffee.After the demonstrations guests tested Turkish coffee and were given a Turkish coffee cup as a gift. The night was concluded by the closing remarks of Senator William Raggio, City of Reno Judge Ken Howard, Rabbi Elazabeth Bayer and Father Chuck Durante. It was such a dinner where people from different traditions expressed their thoughts and offered their friendships.
