Dinner :: 5th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner
Past Event : 10-16-2008
To build the friendship between different communities, Sierra Foundation organized its 5th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner on October16th, 2008 with the people from different religions, different cultures and organizations.
The dinner was attended by more than 100 guests. Senator Harry Reid and Senator John Ensign have sent a Certificate of Recognition for Sierra Foundation. The night of tolerance began with a welcome session, Video Presentation about Sierra Foundation. The dinner was followed by a taped message from former President Bill Clinton that was sent to one of our sister organizations' Dialogue and Friendship Dinner in New York City in September 2008. Underlying the significance of dialog efforts, the message has emphasized contributions of the transnational social movement inspired by Fethullah Gulen who was elected the "World's Top Public Intellectual" by the Foreign Policy Magazine.
Speaker of the evening, Councilman David Aiazzi shared his thoughts with the invitees. Then, prior to the roundtable discussions, an interfaith song, Not of us, which includes referrals to Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, was viewed.
The night was concluded by the closing remarks of Reno City Attorney John Kadlic, City of Sparks Judge James Spoo and Prof. Susan Chandler. It was such a dinner where people from different traditions expressed their thoughts and offered their friendships.
