Celebration :: Ramadan Celebration 2007
Past Event : 10-14-2007
Sierra Foundation celebrated Ramadan Bayram (Eid) Celebration on Sunday, October 14, 2007. A party full of joy and entertainment took place at McKinley Arts & Culture Center. Along with Live Turkish Classic Music, Art of Marbling(Water Painting) Performance, Exhibition & Anatolian corner guests had a chance to have a wonderful taste of Turkish food, Turkish coffee and Baklava! Kids were astonished with the Cotton Candy and plenty of gifts that they received.
Bayram (Eid) is a time to come together as a community and to renew friendship and family reunions. It is seen especially important to honor the elderly citizens wishing them Bayram greetings. It is also customary for children to go around the neighborhood, door to door, and wish everyone a happy Bayram, for which they are awarded candy or a small amount of pocket money at every door, almost in a Halloween-like fashion. These times are always remembered with great joy after years. This is a time for peace for all Believers in the world to devote to prayers and mutual well-being.
