They informed Councilman about activities of Sierra Foundation. They also talked about possible future activities.
Reno Turkish Festival was sponsored and organized by the Sierra Foundation on Sunday, May 25 at Wingfield Park.
Despite the bad weather the Turkish Festival was a huge success! More than 300 people experienced Turkish art&craft, calligraphy, henna, folk dancing, face painting&cotton candy for kids, Turkish meatball, chicken shish kebab, baklava, salads, Turkish coffee and a musical performance by Ferhat Atli.
The largest community event the Western Nevada College hosts was at the Carson City campus on May 3. Sierra Foundation exhibited unique items, arts and crafts from Turkey. We did not let the guests leave empty handed by offering them a free personalized calligraphy.

Observing the tradition that celebrates the landing of Noah's ark, Sierra Foundation will celebrate and share Noah's Pudding (Ashure). In remembrance of Prophet Noah's and believers' deliverance from flood and as symbolic representation of unity a dessert called Noah's Puding (Ashure) will be served and shared in many places like Chapels, Universities, Churches, Fire Department, Police Department, etc.

Sierra Foundation reached out to Reno Police Department (RPD) in order to start a longtime relationship and work together and serve for the cause of safer neighborhood and better community.
Sierra Foundation volunteered at Christmas Tree Recycling campaign (by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful ) and helped to direct traffic and unloaded trees at Rancho San Rafael Park.
Sierra Foundation collected gently used clothing and household items from the members and donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters Donation Center on Dec 14th.
Sierra Foundation celebrated Ramadan Bayram (Eid) Celebration on Sunday, October 14, 2007. A party full of joy and entertainment took place at McKinley Arts & Culture Center. Along with Live Turkish Classic Music, Art of Marbling(Water Painting) Performance, Exhibition & Anatolian corner guests had a chance to have a wonderful taste of Turkish food, Turkish coffee and Baklava! Kids were astonished with the Cotton Candy and plenty of gifts that they received.
To build the friendship between different communities, Sierra Foundation was organized its 4th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner, which was themed as "Diverse Traditions Shared Values", on September 25th, 2007 with the people from different religions, different cultures and organizations.
Sierra Foundation organized Annual Ramadan Dinners (Iftar) on September 16th, 22nd, 29th and October 6th, 2007 at Mckinley Arts&Culture Center. Everyone enjoyed the tasty food and the presentation about the month of Ramadan. It was a good chance for everybody getting to know other people and have authentic food.
Carmelite Sisters of Reno invited Sierra Foundation for dinner at Carmelite Monastery. Started with Nay recital, reading verses about Meryem from Quran and continued with praying alltogether which was followed by an excellent meal.

History, styles and techniques of calligraphy introduced to the audience on May 3rd 12:00 PM at UNR - JTSU Pine Lounge followed by a presentation of the finest illustrations of this traditional art form by a renowned calligraphy master Aydin Cayir. Audience had their personalized calligraphy after the presentation and a Virtual Journey to ISTANBUL that is the only city in the world that stretches on two continents.
